Been playing again.......

Well, woke up this morning to snow on the ground. Where is spring I'd like to know?

Anyway, back to the title of this post " I have been playing again. I have been playing with a product called "Kroma Crackle" (Click on the name and it will take you to a direct link to the product.)

Now I know there are many different products on the market that creates a crackled effect, for example Rock Candy Clear Crackle by Ranger, Paper Artsy Crackle Glaze just to name a couple.

Now I have used both of the a fore mentioned products and had great success with them. I have found that they both have slightly different results, which in a good way, means I can have different types of crackle effect on my projects.

Kroma Crackle comes in a tube, it is fairly runny, and you can mix it with acrylic paints to change the colour.

I love this product, and I can see myself using it more often, the only down side is the drying time, I applied the Crackle medium to my MDF heart and it took 3 days to dry! I did not use a heat gun, I will have a try later on, just to see if that will speed the process up.

I do recommend sealing it after it has dried, I used some watered down Decoupage Matt by Deco Art you can purchase this from The artistic Stamper I have linked to her shop, but I think you may have to call her as I cannot find it on her site, I know she has it in her shop.

Well I guess after all that I aught to show you what I made, using the Kroma Crackle.

Here it is....................

Flowers a plenty............

Hi there,

I am back again with another altered item. This time it a MDF heart.

Loving the flowers.

The flowers on this heart have been made using the following dies, Bitty Blossoms by Spellbinder and Tattered Florals by Tim Holtz. All have been cut on Cream card by Anna marie Designs and inked up with Victorian Velvet and Tattered Rose distress inks.  Then they were spritzed with Perfect pearl spray and left to dry. The foliage around the flowers are Meadow leaf by Memory Box and Martha Stewart Branch punch.

Close up of the Flowers, you can just see the shimmer.

The MDF heart has been painted with Distress Paint Antique Linen, Then Edged with Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet Distress inks. I then took the Crackle stamp by Indigo Blu and stamped around the edges in Victorian Velvet Distress ink. Gave it a quick blast with the heat gun to dry the ink.

Using the stamp set "Wild Meadow" by Indigo Blu I stamped the Dandelion three times, using the second generation technique and Coffee Archival ink. The saying comes from another Indigo Blu stamp set called "Enjoy Life" and this has been stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using Pepper Wow embossing powder.

The metal embellishments have been painted with distress paints and gilded using Crafty Notions Gilding wax in gold.

Every Possibility.................

Hi there,

I hope you are all ok and not too cold with this horrid weather we are having at the moment.

I have entered this on to Hels Sheriden's blog challenge "Sunday Stampers"

http://pinkleart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/sunday-stamper-week-249-brown-eyed-girl.html

I have a canvas to share with you today, It has taken me a few days to get it how I wanted it to look as I have been playing with a new medium. It is called Deco Art Texture Fierro. It has tiny flecks of sparkle in it and when applied to your project it gives an iron like texture, fun stuff.

Burlap Canvas
I applied it to the roses after giving them a wash with the devine Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Black Soot. The roses are constructed with Grunge paper covered in Copper tape, cut out with a die by Sizzix Flower Layers 5, I then added a vintage pearl in the centre.

The canvas is one of Tim Holtz's Burlap panels/Canvas which I bought from Here.

I gave the panel a good coating of Gesso, then a layer of white acrylic paint. Once that had dried, I applied a layer of Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Antique Linen, then added Frayed Burlap, while it was still wet. This enabled me to blend the colours together. Blasted with the heat gun till it was dry ( This took some time as the Burlap holds the moisture in.)

I then took the Chicken wire stamp by Tim Holtz and stamped it in Coffee Archival ink pretty randomly around the edges of the canvas. I once again gave it a blast with the heat gun to dry the ink.

The paper layer on the front of the canvas is from a paper stack by Tim Holtz called Paper Stash 8x 8 Collage, once I had cut it to size, I distressed the edges using my scissors and then added some Vintage Photo Distress ink

Even though you cannot see it, I did use on my panel. Some Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint by Tim Holtz and once that had dried, I rubbed in Distress ink to bring out the cracks.

The flourishes were painted with DP in Antique Linen. On the Metal Plaque I used these rub on's   (scroll to the bottom of the page you will find them there.) I filled the void with Glossy Accents, I was intending on using the crackle version, but I could not find it!

As a final touch, I have in my large stash a couple of Brass knobs, I covered it in Versamark and applied Wow embossing powder in Copper, glued it onto the top of my Canvas. Which this morning I promptly dropped and knocked the knob off. It is now drying as I type.

I hope you enjoy this.
